Fencing Course for Adult Beginners

Wimbledon Fencing Club offers a fencing course for the following types of beginner :

This 6-week course is structured around the syllabus for the Grade 1 Achievement Award as defined by British Fencing.

Merici Sports Centre, Ursuline High School, The Downs, Wimbledon, London SW20 8HF

Dates

Spring Course 2024 - Wed 28 Feb to Wed 3 Apr 2024 - APPLY NOW

Times

Wednesday evenings from 7.30 pm to 9.00 pm (check-in at 7.15 pm)

Cost

Beginners' Course - £115 for adults, £90 for full-time students

The course fee covers :

  • the course (see dates above)
  • use of equipment (see below)
  • continued membership of the club until end of the current term

Cheques must be payable to "Wimbledon Fencing Club".

Insurance

All course participants are required to become members of British Fencing for compulsory insurance cover.

Equipment

Foils, jackets, plastrons, gloves and masks will be provided.

Clothing

Participants should wear a short-sleeve T-shirt, stretchy (track-suit) trousers, and trainers (with clean, light-coloured soles).

Facilities

There are good changing facilities and showers. However, fencers are advised to bring their own bottled (still) water for convenience.

Fencing will continue until the end of term, at no extra cost, to encourage participation in club activities and competitions.
